If you’re managing a WhatsApp group and need to add multiple members quickly, manually saving each contact to your device and adding them individually can be time-consuming. However, there’s a much faster and more efficient way to add bulk contacts to your WhatsApp group. By using a spreadsheet, you can upload multiple contacts in just a few clicks and then easily add them to your group.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the spreadsheet trick using Google Sheets (or Microsoft Excel) to bulk add contacts to your WhatsApp group. Whether you’re organizing an event, managing a team, or building a community, this method will save you tons of time.

Why Use the Spreadsheet Trick for Adding Contacts?

The spreadsheet trick is particularly useful when you have a large number of people to invite to your WhatsApp group. Here are the advantages:

  • Save Time: You can quickly add multiple contacts without needing to save them manually one by one.
  • Efficient Contact Management: You can manage contacts in bulk using a simple spreadsheet format.
  • Bulk Import: After creating the spreadsheet, you can easily import the contacts to your Google Contacts and add them to your WhatsApp group.

Now, let’s dive into the step-by-step process to add multiple contacts to your WhatsApp group using Google Sheets.

Step-by-Step Guide: Using Google Sheets to Add Multiple Contacts to a WhatsApp Group

Step 1: Download the Google Sheets App from the Google Play Store

The first thing you need is the Google Sheets app, which is available for free on the Google Play Store. You can download and install the app by searching for Google Sheets in the store.

  • Google Sheets for Android: Download Google Sheets

Once the app is installed, open it and get started.

Step 2: Create a New Spreadsheet

In the Google Sheets app, tap the “+” icon located in the bottom-right corner of the screen to create a new spreadsheet. This will open a blank spreadsheet where you can start adding your contacts.

Step 3: Name the Columns

In the first row, you’ll need to create two columns: one for Names and one for Phone Numbers.

  • In Column A, type “name.”
  • In Column B, type “phone.”

This will serve as the template for your contact list.

Step 4: Add Names and Phone Numbers

Now, start filling in the names and phone numbers of the people you want to add to your WhatsApp group. Each row should contain one person’s information, with their name in Column A and their phone number in Column B.

For example:

NamePhone
John Doe1234567890
Jane Smith0987654321

Repeat this process for all the contacts you wish to add to your group.

Step 5: Rename the Spreadsheet

Once you’ve added all the necessary contacts, you can rename the spreadsheet for easy identification.

  • Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and select Untitled spreadsheet.
  • Enter a name for your spreadsheet, such as “WhatsApp Group Contacts”, and click OK.

Step 6: Save the Spreadsheet as a CSV File

To import the contacts to Google Contacts, you need to save the spreadsheet as a CSV file.

  1. Tap the three dots again and select Share & export.
  2. Tap Save as.
  3. Choose CSV (current sheet) and click OK.
  4. Your CSV file will be saved to your Google Drive.

Step 7: Download the CSV File from Google Drive

  1. Open Google Drive and locate the CSV file you just saved.
  2. Tap the three dots next to the file and select Download to save the file to your device.

Step 8: Open Google Contacts

Now that you have the CSV file, open Google Contacts to import the contacts from the CSV.

  1. Go to contacts.google.com in your browser or open the Google Contacts app.
  2. Tap the three lines in the upper-left corner and select Import.

Step 9: Import the CSV File

  1. Tap Select file and choose Media picker.
  2. Select the CSV file you downloaded from Google Drive and click Import.
  3. Your contacts will now be imported to Google Contacts.

Step 10: Open WhatsApp and Tap on the Group Name

After importing the contacts to Google Contacts, open the WhatsApp app on your phone and go to the group where you want to add the new members.

Step 11: Tap the Add Button

In the WhatsApp group, tap the group name at the top of the screen to access the Group Info page. Scroll down and tap the Add button to add new members to the group.

Step 12: Select the Contacts and Click OK

WhatsApp will show you your contacts from Google Contacts. Select the contacts you want to add to the group by tapping on each one. Once you’ve selected all the contacts, tap OK at the bottom of the screen.
