Two years earlier, the FTC had ordered the North Carolina-based company to pay a total of $520 million to resolve allegations that it collected personal data from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. As part of that settlement, Epic Games agreed to overhaul its privacy policies, adjust its chat and text functions, and reconfigure how it charges players. However, Epic neither confirmed nor denied the allegations at the time.
