Kenya’s updated list of Principal Secretaries marks a major reshaping of the country’s administrative and governance framework, bringing in a more specialized structure designed to improve efficiency, accountability and service delivery. With 51 PSs now overseeing key state departments across ministries, the government aims to strengthen policy implementation and align national development priorities with sector-specific leadership.
This expanded structure reflects the increasing complexity of national governance and the need for focused oversight in critical areas such as infrastructure, public finance, education, health, environment, digital transformation and devolution. By assigning experienced professionals and technocrats to these strategic roles, the government seeks to accelerate progress, streamline inter-ministerial coordination and bring public services closer to citizens at a time when effective leadership is essential for economic growth and social stability.
